Once you start feeling more comfortable and confident with running, you may start to focus on another goal: running faster.One strategy that will help you run faster is to lose weight. If you’re not at your recommended weight, losing just 10 pounds can make a significant difference in your speed. Next, do hill training. By running hills you will use different muscles in your legs and the hills themselves will add to the resistance, so when you are running on a flat ground you will be able to run faster.Tempo runs can also help improve your speed and confidence. Start your run with 5 to 10 minutes easy running, then continue with 15 to 20 minutes of harder running at about 10-15 seconds slower than your 10K pace -- and then finish with 5 to 10 minutes of cooling down.Finally, rest. As you get older, you need more time to recover between runs to build stronger tissue. So take time to let your muscles recover.Here is a tip: Join a running club.
