Hi I'm Nutrition & Fitness Expert JJ Virgin of JJVirgin.com and I'm here today with About.com to share with you the fruits you should avoid when you're following a low carb diet.And hint: you probably aren't aware of some of these – they might surprise you. So, the first thing is you want to avoid tropical fruits: those are bananas, papayas, pineapples. The next thing that you want to avoid are grapes. Grapes are little pearls of sugar. Finally, juice, dried fruit, jams, these are all a big carb and sugar bomb. So keep those out of your diet. So I've taken these things away, what can you put in instead?Well the great news is there are plenty of great low carb options out there that are both delicious and packed with nutrients. My favorite of all being berries. And one thing I'll tell you about berries that you might not realize is there's a great option out here of freeze-dried berries. These are 100 calories for a pack. And you can mix them up with some nuts – it's a great little snack. Of course, apples are wonderful and totally portable. And peaches are great – these are great to throw in your morning protein shake. So there still are a lot of low carb options out there once you ditch those high carb ones.
