Brandon Routh Interview - Dylan Dog: Dead of Night
音量
Rebecca Murray from About.com Hollywood Movies on OMNI/FSR's 2011 WonderCon 'Dylan Dog: Dead of Night' Press Line.It seems like it's taken a while but it's finally coming out.Brandon Routh: "That happens sometimes, you know? The entertainment business is a strange business. We're building anticipation."Tell me about working on this one.Brandon Routh: "It was a lot of fun. To be able to work with Sam Huntington who's one of my best friends and to work with Kevin [Munroe], who has become a very good friend as well, it's been a lot of fun to have some laughs and kick some monster butt."With all the other movies out there that involve vampires and everything else, how is this one set apart?Brandon Routh: "Well I think that the core of this movie and why this story works I guess is the relationship of Dylan and Marcus - Sam and my characters. It's just a great kind of buddy relationship. So there's a great buddy comedy aspect mixed in with solving the case and fighting off the undead that happens. That's, for me anyway, that's what I enjoy most about the movie. It's not the ghouls and goblins and everything, but it's the buddy relationship."So it is a horror comedy? It's really a comedy, right?Brandon Routh: "Who knows? I'm not going to classify it as something, but I think there are a lot of funny moments. And some moments maybe even take a second viewing to kind of understand. There's some puns and also a lot of Dylan Dog stuff that comes from the comic books so if you don't know that, there are little names dropped and things that happen that if you know the comics at all, that you'd kind of find those Where's Waldo moments."But what if you're like me and you don't know the comics? Are you going to get it?Brandon Routh: "You're still going to have a good time. I think there are some great fun moments. There are some really cool... There's a great big zombie which looks pretty cool on camera. I have a nice battle with him. It's just kind of a good popcorn, soda type of movie."Was it a lot of practical effects or green screen?Brandon Routh: "There was a lot of practical. That's another reason why this movie kind of is set apart from others of the genre because you know you're not really focused a lot on doing CGI creatures. One of the things I think is exciting about this is it is kind of real, it's kind of a throwback feel, kind of a retro feel to this having all of the vampires and the zombies and the big guy at the end be practical. There are CGI elements, things that just kind of add in detail, but largely all the monsters and stuff are practical."Is it a little bizarre walking around a set like that? Do you get used to seeing these weird creatures?Brandon Routh: "Yes, it is kind of strange because there's a human inside of it. That's the funny thing. So you've got this big hulking mass of slobbering zombie but you've got Brian Steele in there who's a great character actor. He's in there asking for water, just talking to him but in this big huge monster costume."Why will this film blow us away in theaters?Brandon Routh: "Because you'll believe that zombies are good in this movie. There are good zombies. Sam Huntington has an unfortunate incident but becomes a heroic zombie, one of the first, and it's very exciting."More on Dylan Dog:
