Amy Smart Interview - Mirrors at Comic Con 2008
音量

That scene that they showed for us earlier in the bathtub looked so creepy. I just don't even know how you can do that. How did you physically prepare for something like that?

Amy Smart: "You know it's just that I really had to use my imagination because obviously it doesn't happen much in real life. But I was really excited to have this scene to do in the movie because I've never really done horror films. And, to me, to have this scene where I die in a horror film in a really original, gruesome way was fun. And it was creepy where we were shooting it. It was a very haunted feeling. And, yes, it's gross and terrifying the scene, but like I'm not scared watching it myself because it's me."

When you walk by a mirror now, do you check it out a little different now than you used to?

Amy Smart: "Absolutely. There's like little thoughts in the back of my head that go, 'I wonder if I'm going to see something in that reflection.'"

Did you know anything about the myths behind mirrors before this started?
Amy Smart: "Not really."

Did you do any research during it?
Amy Smart: "A little bit, yeah, but I sort of feel like we all… I feel like there's so many dimensions in life and there's a lot that we can't see, so there's a part of me that believes there is a possibility, but I've never seen anything. And, you know, there's myths about everything. But the fact that this movie is about reflections is scary because we all look in the mirror several times a day – especially in the bathroom."

Most of the females in horror films are just screaming bimbos. She's not.
Amy Smart: "No. I mean, my reflection is tearing apart my face so I'm trying to keep it together."

What was it like working with Kiefer [Sutherland] and how did you guys develop that bond?
Amy Smart: "We really had a lot of conversations about what, you know, it means to be a brother and sister. These two characters have gone through a lot of trauma together so it was really important for both of us to establish the care and support on the screen that these two characters have for each other, and the love. To me, it was like I really wanted to convey that he's like the person I love so much in my life and, you know, vice versa. And working with him was incredible. He's just so dedicated to his craft. In a way he has like, he's been doing such a brilliant job at 24 and to step out of that and to do this character, he really spent a lot of time and energy working on this, and it shows, obviously. You haven't seen it but it's a great movie and he's phenomenal in it."
