Bailee Madison: "It is. It is super freaky, super scary. I actually did a screening with my mom and all of my reps and everything, and they were screaming. And I'm not just saying that because I'm in the film but literally I would look back and one of my representatives - one of my reps - would be like [screaming]. It's such a good scary movie. There's not a lot of ones out there, and I think a lot of people will like it. It's good. I liked it. It was really scary."
Was it scary on the set because they always say that scary movies are scary on the set?
Bailee Madison: "You know a lot of people have been asking me that, and it wasn't too bad. They had these huge machines with vegetable oil in there that would make it like fog and everything. So I think once you put the 10,000 eye drops in your eyes, it was just like, 'Okay, fine, let's continue.' But it wasn't too bad. We made sure, everyone on the set made sure that it wasn't scary off set as well."
Did you see the original? Had you watched that?
Bailee Madison: "The funny thing is is that when I got the script on my table, my next door neighbor came over - she was going to have dinner with us - she looks and she goes, 'Oh my gosh, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark.' I said, 'What?' And she goes, 'I have the original thing on VCR.' I said, 'Oh my goodness, can I see it?' She went over and she got it, and we watched it. And I laughed at the creatures because we described them as peanuts, because I almost wanted to eat them because they looked crunchy and they looked like peanuts! Don't worry...I would never do that. But now these that we have, I describe the ones that we have they're like rats combined with spiders...I can't give away anything. But it's super - you feel like they're crawling on you."
If you saw the original one, you know why we're just waiting for this remake to come out.
Bailee Madison: "Some things are very the same with the original, and they gave a twist on some parts, which I think the audience is going to like."
And you get to work with Katie Holmes.
Bailee Madison: "I did. She's wonderful. I had a great time working with her and her little daughter, Suri. We had a great time."
And Conviction, you got to work with a great cast too.
Bailee Madison: "I did - Hilary Swank, Sam Rockwell. I actually saw the writer today because I was at the Variety's Power of Women event this morning. I saw the writer and she said that it's looking great, so I'm very excited."
