With her husband behind bars, Alicia returns to work as a litigator after taking 12 years off to be a stay-at-home mom. Each week, she tackles new, complicated cases while trying to get her personal life back on track.The series was partially inspired by the Eliot Spitzer prostitution scandal, as well as other high-profile political sex scandals, including that of Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky.Margulies is joined by Chris Noth, as husband Peter; Christine Baranski as a senior partner at Alicia's law firm, and Alan Cumming as Peter's campaign manager.And the series is no stranger to guest stars. Famous faces like Michael J. Fox, America Ferrera, Matthew Perry and Martha Plimpton have all stopped by. Plimpton even picked up a guest-star Emmy for her arc.The show has racked up plenty of nominations and awards for itself and the cast. Margulies has taken home multiple Emmys and a Golden Globe for best actress.
