Advanced Equipment Needed for Weight Training
Using ___________________________ along with some heavier weights and clips can really diversify your workout.
Hi, I’m Alex Shafiro, director of physical therapy and performance training here at Performance Physical Therapy and Integrated Health in Westport, Connecticut. And I’m here with About.com to talk to you about advanced equipment needed for weight training. It’s important to remember that when progressing from a beginner’s weight training program to an advanced one, you are not only increasing the weight that you use, but you are also diversifying the equipment that you use.Chances are you already have a flat bench at home, and it may have a bench press adjustment. However, when you move up to an intermediate or advanced level and increase the amount of workouts you are doing, getting an adjustable bench that can go from inclined to seated and back down to flat with an easy adjustment can be a great tool to use when you change up your workout.Using a straight bar or a curved bar along with some heavier weights and clips can really diversify your workout. With a straight bar, you can do straight leg dead lifts, you can do rows, as well as some core work, to really change up your workout. As you progress, you will really want to get some heavier dumbbells to go up to twenty, twenty-five, fifty, or even seventy-five pounds if you choose so, to really increase how much weight you are doing. To really diversify your workout, you can use medicine balls for core as well as ballistic workouts, stability platforms for balance work, handles in order to help your wrists out while doing pushups, as well as resistance bands that can offer up to one hundred pounds of resistance per band. That is some advanced equipment needed for weight training. Always remember use proper technique and stay safe. For more information visit About.com
