You need to take it easy and be able to rest if you feel tired. Getting through the first week, actually the first three days on a low-carb diet is the hardest. Your body is accustomed to using carbohydrates for energy, and it must convert over to using the excess fat you are trying to lose. So you may feel a little on edge.

Stay Hydrated During the First Week of a Low-Carb Diet

Stay hydrated, and replace your electrolytes. When you reduce carbs the first week you will lose a lot of sodium and potassium, so make sure you replace this loss of sodium to avoid headaches, fatigue and dizziness. Try sipping on hot cups of bouillon or eat a piece of low-carb fruit between meals. During the first week and subsequent weeks, try not to go more than three hours between meals or snacks. Eat foods made with flax seeds, as they are high in both fiber and healthy omega-3 fatty acids.
