The Hangover - Ken Jeong and Dan Finnerty Interviews

Rebecca Murray from About.com Hollywood Movies at the LA Premiere of The Hangover.
Ken Jeong - 'Mr Chow' in The Hangover

We talk all the time. It seems like you're in every movie.

Ken Jeong: "Yeah, I pay a fee. It's like subscribing to US magazine. I just pay a season pass to like comedy movies in tiny Asian parts. And I do mean tiny Asian parts."

You are naked in this.

Ken Jeong: "Yes, I am naked."

I heard that was your idea.

Ken Jeong: "Yeah, I pitched that idea to Todd [Phillips]."

Why would you do that?

Ken Jeong: "I felt like I wanted to do something to justify why my character is so angry and humiliated at the end, because I come back with a vengeance at the end. So I wanted to do something that kind of justified my anger. I threaten their lives later on in the movie and I was thinking like Ving Rhames' character in Pulp Fiction and how humiliated he was with The Gimp and doing all these things. That was really the genesis of it, you know? And also any excuse to show my tiny balls is just wonderful."

And you had to jump on...

Ken Jeong: "To jump on Bradley Cooper's neck, his shoulders are so dreamy. I mean, they're made out of bone but I swear it was made out of butter. Sorry, honey."

How many takes did you do?

Ken Jeong: "We did about 40 takes. We shot it all day. Poor Bradley. He got a raw end of that deal. He's a really good friend of mine. We did another movie, All About Steve, with Sandra Bullock that's coming out on Labor Day, and had I not worked with him before, I would never have pitched that idea. I had known all the three guys, and Todd, prior to filming so had I not worked with people I had known before, then I probably would not have pitched it. I would have been too shy to do it. But it is Todd Phillips and when I pitched it to Todd I said, 'Would you mind if I was naked in the scene?' And he said, 'Ken, you don't have to ask twice.' And within an hour, they shoved a nudity clause underneath my hotel door just in case I would change my mind."

Dan Finnerty

You even sing as a wedding singer in this?
Dan Finnerty: "I do. I should just buy my own tuxedo because I'm always wearing one in a movie. Whatever."

So do you make up your own songs?

Dan Finnerty: "I don't. We do covers. This one we do a 50 Cent cover and an Irene Cara cover. Why wouldn't we?"

Are you touring the whole summer?

Dan Finnerty: "We're doing like a West Coast tour and then we're going to Canada. We're doing Vegas."

How do you fit movies into that?

Dan Finnerty: "Well once every two years when Todd Phillips gets off his ass."

So did they already write a part for you in Hangover 2?

Dan Finnerty: "I just pitched myself."

What do you want to be?

Dan Finnerty: "I heard it takes place in Asia somewhere so I was like, 'I can do Asian. I'll learn some Cantonese or something."

What's the relationship between you and Todd?

Dan Finnerty: "We're lovers."

Are you?

Dan Finnerty: "Yeah. He's a good kisser."

Is this an exclusive?

Dan Finnerty: "This is an exclusive, yeah. Pitch this one out. No, he saw my show here in LA and put me in Old School and then Starsky & Hutch. So it's number 3."

Maybe you're his muse or something.

Dan Finnerty: "Let's say I am. I'm his muse. There I said it."

Do you have bad Vegas stories?

Dan Finnerty: "No, put I'm planning on getting them because we just signed a deal with Club LAX in Vegas. That's the only reason I said yes because I didn't have a good hangover story for Vegas, so I plan on just literally loosing an organ."
