The House Bunny - Dana Goodman and Sarah Wright Interviews
音量
The cast of the comedy movie 'The House Bunny' walked the pink carpet for the film's premiere in front of stands full of fans wearing Playboy Bunny ears. On the carpet Dana Goodman and Sarah Wright chatted up the women-powered comedy. Rebecca Murray from About.com Hollywood Movies at the Los Angeles Premiere of The House Bunny.
Sarah Wright ('Ashley')

So you're a meanie in the movie?

Sarah Wright: "I am, yes. I am the preppie sorority girl who is out to demolish everyone."

How fun is it to play someone that mean?

Sarah Wright: "It was actually really fun. I've never done that before and it was awesome. I had a great time. It was more of a conniving sort of character and I usually play like the bubbly, you know, bright person so it was cool."

So how did you figure out how to play her and not push her too far?

Sarah Wright: "I went with more of being super nice at the beginning and then easing into more of a conniving thing. I was kind of pulling from Reese Witherspoon in Election and like Rachel McAdams from Mean Girls, and putting those two together."

That's a nice combination. Now this isn't just about making girls look pretty. It actually has a message. How important was that to get out?

Sarah Wright: "Oh, the message was absolutely important to get out. I think it's a great empowering thing to tell women, to go get your education and go out there and be who you want to be and not who somebody else wants you to be. I think that's great for everyone woman to know."

What's up next for you?

Sarah Wright: "I actually have a movie Surfer, Dude coming out."

With Matthew McConaughey.

Sarah Wright: "Yeah, September 3rd so yeah, that's in like a week I guess."

Who do you play?

Sarah Wright: "I play like this girl who's in love with him, kind of . That's a goofy, bubbly character too so it's… I kind of play like his love interest/best friend in the movie."

How's he to work with?

Sarah Wright: "Incredible. Matthew McConaughey is the best guy to work with. He's so nice, so chill. He's amazing."

Dana Goodman ('Carrie Mae')

Dana Goodman: "I'm in the nerdy sorority that Anna takes under her wing. I play Carrie Mae. I'm like the old weird girl."

How hard is it to play the old weird girl?

Dana Goodman: "Well, when you're surrounded with these gorgeous young Hollywood starlets it was not very hard."

But you are gorgeous and young so don't say that.

Dana Goodman: "They put me in overalls and gave me no makeup, and put my hair up in a bun. And they're like, 'Go!'"

What does that do for your vanity as an actress?

Dana Goodman: "It was a dream role. I mean, they let me have so much fun with the part. I got to improvise and be funny. They added lines that I did. They were so great and let me do anything. It was just a blast. I am actually blessed to have this role."

This isn't just about her turning you guys into a bunch of hotties. There's actually a message behind this. What is the message?

Dana Goodman: "Just be yourself. Be smart and be strong. Yeah, we taught Anna [Faris] things and she taught us things, and we all met in the middle and we learned who we are inside, so it's important."

You'd done Adam Sandler productions before [Sandler's company produced The House Bunny].

Dana Goodman: "I have. He's been very good to me. Very good to me."

And you're in Bedtime Stories, right?

Dana Goodman: "I am. I play like this Grecian Goddess. It's kind of like a fantasy film. He tells his niece and nephew bedtime stories and they come to life. And I'm in one of the vignettes. I play a girl who used to go to college with him and was mean to him. We meet him in a bar – I see him in a bar – and then he has a dream sequence where he sees us in a Grecian cavern and is kind of mean to us. It kind of all comes full circle."

Is it a family friendly comedy?

Dana Goodman: "It's a Disney, yeah."

What do you think young girls are most going to get out of The House Bunny?

Dana Goodman: "Hopefully they get the message. Hopefully they'll be bouncing to the music but they'll also receive the message. It's a great film with a great message. It's so cute. It's summer fun."
