Vitamin supplements basically are a supplement to your diet. If you feel that either you or your child is not eating a variety of food, or maybe even enough food, then you can give yourself or your child a multi-vitamin. This supplement will provide you with a basic amount of vitamins and minerals that we need for the day.
It is not required that you give your child a paediatric multivitamin supplement. You can if you want. Your child doesn't need vitamin supplements. If you feel that your child is eating a nice variety of food and is growing well, most likely your child's getting enough vitamins and minerals without taking vitamin supplements, maybe even more so.
Vitamin supplements can actually be dangerous to children but that's only if they begin to eat vitamins as candy, or eat more than the recommended amount. The vitamins that can become toxic are Vitamins A, D, E and K. Too much of those will actually harm us. The best way to figure out how many of these vitamins we need is to look at the nutrition label on the vitamin supplement and look for the serving side. For example, for one vitamin, you will need to have two in order to give you the percentages that are on the label.
