Michelle Monaghan and Juliette Lewis Due Date Interviews
Todd Phillip's humor is described as
Michelle Monaghan: "Oh my gosh, if you only knew how grateful I was for that recognition. It was truly just a very, very special time in my life and very, very incredibly proud of that film. And for you guys to take a step back and to take some time and honor that performance in that film really means a lot to me and to the filmmakers and everyone involved."
You get to reunite with Robert Downey Jr.
Michelle Monaghan: "Yeah..."
Michelle Monaghan: "I know. That's what I think."
But you don't actually get to see him face to face much.
Michelle Monaghan: "I don't. Not very much. We got to see a lot of each other in the down time but unfortunately onscreen we didn't get to spend that much time together. But fortunately maybe that chemistry from the Kiss Kiss Bang Bang movie carried over to this movie."
What is Todd Phillips like? They guy knows how to do comedy. What makes him so good?
Michelle Monaghan: "Well he's just so... You know what? He's just really, really funny. He's a big boy and I think he's just a really great director, and the actors really appreciate and respect his vision for films. And it's kind of, in a way, it's a very immature mature humor. I don't know if that really makes sense. But he's just a great guy to work with."
Is this the type of movie you'd go see in your downtime - this kind of comedy?
Michelle Monaghan: "Yeah, yeah - absolutely, absolutely. I can't make a movie that I wouldn't go and see, that I wouldn't want to go and see."
A lot of people who visit About.com are huge Gerard Butler fans and you just did Machine Gun Preacher with him, so give us the scoop behind the scenes with him.
Michelle Monaghan: "Wow, he's a big boy. He's a lot of fun. He's really, really sweet."
He'll say anything.
Michelle Monaghan: "Yeah, that's what's one of the most endearing things about him is he does say anything. He works really hard and he's so terrific in this film. I think people are just going to be blown away at his performance and his dedication. And he's a great, terrific, terrific guy."
You'd work with him again?
Michelle Monaghan: "Absolutely. Absolutely."
Juliette Lewis: "I'll either yell like, 'Noooooooo!,' or I'll get weak in the knees and kind of faint."
Now with this one you get to go crazy again and have a little fun on the set.
Juliette Lewis: "Yeah, I mean all parts I do I like to keep it rooted in like a real person that maybe you think you've seen before. But yeah, Conviction which is completely a true story, a real life person, totally dramatic and then this was just a send-up. You know, Todd Phillips will call me up and go, 'I've got this part. She's a pot dealer. Mother of two.' He'll sort of set the stage and it's a hilarious scene, and then I just sort of show up. And I'm working with two amazing actors - Zach [Galifianakis] and Downey - so I was really excited."
