How To Tap Dance
Once you've learned basic tap steps you can link them together to create tap dance
So, you want to learn to tap dance. Go to your local school or go online to find a local and then find yourself a pair of tap shoes and get down there. Once you are ready for your first class, you will be doing some basic steps. And I am going to show you some of these now, so you are prepared. I am going to show you how to do a shuffle. Shuffle is a brush forwards and a brush back. Forwards and back, think of using the ball of your feet. Shuffle forwards and back. Don't let your heel come in or otherwise adds an extra beat. So shuffle forwards and back. Now the movement, I am doing that with an even sound. You want to ascent the sound. So you go, shuffle, shuffle, shuffle, shuffle. You want to try and keep this part of your leg still and just use your ankle. Shuffle, shuffle, shuffle, the smaller, the better. Don't tense the foot up too much, shuffle, shuffle and you can do this with the left. And that's how to do the basic shuffle. Another basic step that you might find in your first tap class is the step heel. So you put your ball of your feet in to the ground and follow it with the heel. Step heel, step heel. I will show you one the side step heel, step heel. You can do this, travelling forwards and you can do it travelling to the side. And that's how to do a step heel. Once you have learnt some basic tap steps, you can link them together to create tap dance choreography. I am going to show you the step heel, the tap step heel, the shuffle ball change and the step heel toe. Step heel, tap step heel, step heel, shuffle ball change, shuffle ball change, step heel toe. A little bit faster, step heel, step heel, tap step heel, tap step heel, shuffle ball change, shuffle ball change, step heel toe. And a little bit faster.
