Thank you.Today we're going to show you how to do breaststroke. We're going to point out some technical parts of it and some drills that you could use to build up to a good technique. Okay, so the leg kick, the legs come up to the bum, kick out wide to get a bit of a sweeping motion, like a frog kick.With one leg kick per arm stroke, we breathe on every single arm stroke. The arms fall from the front position, down on to the side of the body no further than the shoulders. So it's keeping fairly in front of the face.As we pull the hands back to shoulder length, we come up for a breath and shoot forward with the hands. The hands rotate in a circular motion from the outside of the body to the midline as we stretch forward. The important part of this is to get the timing right between the leg kick and the arm stroke.So now were focusing on the leg kick only. A drill here, so you see they start from straight, heels come up towards the bum slightly flared and with the soles of the feet they kick out and together in a circular motion. This is to be repeated a few times to get the muscle memory in place.On this occasion Theo is breathing every three of four strokes as were focusing only on the leg kicks. Breath, heels up to bum kick out and together. That's it.So now were doing two leg kicks and one arm stroke or breath. One, two, breath, one, two. The reason were doing two is it gives you more time to think about the leg kick, and then to think about the up and coming breath.One, two, and breath, one. While his face is in the water he's blowing out slowly, trickle breathing out. One, two, and breath.So now were doing the full stroke. There's one arm stroke for one leg kick and there's a breath on every single arm stroke. The key with this stroke is just as your taking the breath in and your returning on your recovery through the surface of the water, through the top of the water is to get the leg kicks started.So leg kick starts here.
