Sandra Bullock may be best remembered for her role in 2000's
Hi I'm Christina Hartman and today we're profiling one of America's sweethearts; actress, Sandra Bullock.Sandra Annette Bullock was born on July 26th, 1964 in Arlington, Virginia. As a child Bullock travelled with her mother, a German opera singer, on tours in Europe. Her first stage performance was at the young age of five, performing in an opera in Nuremburg. In 1982, Bullock enrolled in East Carolina University to study acting. However she dropped out of college in 1986, just three credits short of earning a bachelor's degree. Instead, she moved to New York to further pursue an acting career, supporting herself by working as a bartender and waitress.At the age of 21, Bullock earned her first big job in the off-broadway production No Time Flat. This opened the door to other acting opportunities and lead to her roles in the series Working Girl and the movie Love Potion No. 9. Yet most of these jobs didn't capture the true talent of the young and bubbly Bullock.That didn't come until her breakout role as Annie Porter in the 1994 blockbuster hit, Speed. Bullock not only stole the heart of her on-air counterpart, Keanu Reeves, but audiences everywhere with her portrayal of a bus driver in peril. The next several years were busy for Bullock, who went on to star in several big budget films like While You Were Sleeping, A Time to Kill, and 28 Days.But Bullock may be best remembered for her role in 2000's Miss Congeniality. In the comedy, Bullock plays Gracie Hart, a no-nonsense tomboy FBI agent forced to go undercover as a contestant in the Miss USA Pageant. Bullock filled the next few years with a series of romantic comedies including Miss Congeniality 2, Two Week's Notice, The Lake House, and the Proposal.In 2009 Bullock starred in the role in what would likely be the most important acting job of her career to date. She portrayed real-life football mom Leigh Anne Tuohy in The Blind Side. The story is based off the true and touching story of NFL player Michael Oher in which Bullock's character takes in homeless teen and helps him get an education and a scholarship to play college ball. The Blind Side brought in over $248 million and saw Bullock has earning several awards including a Teen Choice Award, a SAG Award, a Golden Globe, and an Oscar for best performance by a leading actress.Around the time her career started booming, her personal life took a turn for the worse. Bullock cancelled several premier appearances after news broke out that her husband of nearly 5 years, Jesse James, had been having an affair with model Michelle McGee. James and Bullock, who had been in the middle of adopting a child from New Orleans, divorced in 2010. Bullock continued with the adoption, and announced the addition of Louis Bardo Bullock to her family as a single mother.Bullock has won several awards in her career and even more nominations.
