Hi! This is Meghan Lynn Allen for About.com, and today we'll discuss how to teach lessons about weather using free, printable worksheets. There are plenty of resources online, ranging from About.com's own Homeschooling site, or educational sites like abcteach.com and superteacherworksheets.com. Seek out worksheets about the weather. Here is a worksheet about clouds that takes a standard approach to teaching. It's a fill in the blank or question or answer worksheet. It's basic, upfront, and showcases your student's writing and reading skills when it comes to their lesson on weather. And there are many variations of coloring pages online. Here's one of the sun. You could print one out for each individual planet or whatever topic you're discussing in weather that week. It could be clouds, it could be moon and sun, in could be thunderclouds or rainbows. It isn't just a coloring page. Think of it as having more than one purpose. You see that white border around the edge? Have your students fill in their five favorite facts about the topic of the week. There are also more detailed coloring pages online. Not just images to color in, but facts to go along with the pictures. Your student can take this home and use it outside of the classroom when trying to memorize facts about, in this case, clouds. And don't forget to seek out a little fun when talking about weather with your free, printable worksheets. There are plenty of word games online -- crossword puzzles, fill in the blanks, unscrambles and word searches. Here are two styles of worksheets to help your students remember facts about the weather. And remember to keep a master copy, a blank of each worksheet and start your free, printable worksheet library. Thanks for watching. To learn more, visit us on the web at About.com.
