Tips for Proper Attire for Pilates
The instructor is able to see your body and you're able to
Hi I'm Dr. Karyn Staples, physical therapist and Pilates instructor with ProHealth Physical Therapy and Pilates Studio for about.com. We are discussing today about what to wear to your very first Pilates class. You want to wear semi-fitted to fitted clothing. The instructor is able to see your body and you're able to move your body without restriction. Anything that is too baggy or it allows your body when your legs are up it allows it to slide down will cause you to be self conscious and worry more about where your clothing is than what the movement is.This is a tank top, a workout wear tank top with a shelf bra and it allows a lot of movement capability for the client as well as some fitted and some longer capri pants that, again, allows that movement capability but allows the instructor to see the movement. For somebody that may be a little more self-conscious about wearing fitted wear, there's the next top that shows a little bit more of a ruching and it allows for a little bit more of a semi-fitted fit, as well as some support and coverage into the chest area for the female.Guys, I recommend wearing some kind of sliding short or compression shorts underneath your shorts as you're working, again for the same reason. Your pants will slide up and that way things are covered. Ladies, when you're working on upper body, you want to make sure you have some tight-fitted support for your upper body and you can wear another tank top or short-sleeved shirt or long-sleeved shirt over top. But again something semi-fitted that you or the instructor can see and feel your body moving. For more information, please visit About.com.
